Clay swelled the list of materials that were manipulated and tested in college. The first wall pieces resulted from these experiments. “This idea of using ceramics as a painting began to arise. My mindset was very pictorial, in the sense that I want my pieces to be seen on a wall.
The wall pieces are the most technically challenging and allowing to do what best defines my art practice, which is pushing the materials to the limit. “Ceramics obviously aren’t made for bending and folding because a lot of crack apear when they start drying. the clay is countering what I do, and it is in this sense that I push it to the limit. Basically I am trying to equate ceramics with other materials that are completely different and behave in completely different ways.”
