I seek to separate the objects from their associated use or purpose and bring an origin of objecthood to my piece. I intend to make it harder to distinguish the different materials present in the same work. The piece is composed of parts but when joined together they form an emergence. I want to explore the relationship between my pieces and space. I defy and seek to break with preconceived ideas associated with painting and sculpture; how they have installed; the materials they use; and the way people interact with them. The wall is no longer taken for granted, the materials are mixed and manipulated, and the center is no longer the art piece but the relation between the viewer and the object. It’s exactly that interaction that brings meaning to the work. Some pieces require the floor, some the wall, and some require both.
